RICHARD COUSE HEADS JACOM TROPHY QUALIFIERS WITH NETT 64

The Jacom Trophy Qualifier played on Saturday 27th October saw good scoring in spite of near gale conditions with the top 16 places in the medal competition going forward to the Matchplay knockout round. Forty six players competed in a single division with players needing to shoot nett 71 or better to qualify with the top three places all reducing their playing handicaps. First place went to Richard Couse (18) scoring an excellent 64 with James Sanders (7) taking the lowest gross and second place with a 65. Third place went to Pete Miller (16) putting in a 66 closely followed by Myles Taylor (5) coming in fourth on 67 ahead of Adam Keen (12), Bill Lavers (13) and Nick Punter (13) all with the same score. The Millway Cup awarded to the player returning the best six medals over summer period was won by Kev Garrett (4) with a nett 405, averaging a very creditable 67.5, second place went to Keith Wright (9) 413 and Richard Couse (17) took third spot only two shots behind

Forty three players entered the mid week stableford with Division One being won with 39 points by Keith Wright (9) followed by Dave Morey (14), Tony Keen (11), Bill Hinchen (7) in 2nd 3rd and 4th places respectively all shooting 38 points. In Division Two first place went to John Herbert (23) scoring 38 points from second placed Ian ball (16) on 36 beating Pete Bryan (18) Ken Bebbington (17) and Ray Cooke (20) on the back nine.

The Summer Knockout Competitions have now all finished with the Fourball Knockout Barton Cup going to Kevin Garrett and Darren Burgess beating Dean Capel and John Crosbie. The Mixed Foursomes Harding Cup final went more to John Crosbie’s liking with him and partner Liz Morris coming out on top against Ann Smith and Barry Hunter The Singles Knockout trophies also had one player making both finals, Keith Kimber beat Ant Roper in the McCaul Cup, but Keith lost on the 18th hole against Myles Taylor in the Knill Jones final.
