PETER COOPER SNATCHES SUMMER ECLECTIC FROM PLAYING PARTNER BY A SINGLE SHOT

The hotly contested Summer Eclectic was this year won by a single shot with Steve Orchard carding the lowest gross (57) but being beaten by a single shot by regular playing partner Peter Cooper scoring a net 52.5 to Steve’s 53.5. Third and fourth places went to Dick Downes and Dave Wilkins respectively both scoring 55.5 net.

This week the Midweek Stableford set a high scoring pace with Division One won with 42 points by Keith Brown closely followed in second by Pieter Sheldon on 40 edging out Ken Bebbington to third spot on count back. Division Two went to Richard Couse returning 41 points 3 shots clear of nearest rival Ray Cooke in second on 38 and Tim Deville in third with 36 points.

Saturday saw the best round of the week played by Graham Wells returning an excellent 43 points to take first place in Division One, second place went to John Crosbie on 41 with James Sanders scoring 39 points to take third spot from Colin Jones on the back nine. Division Two was a father and son affair with Stephen Cooke beating his dad Gary by a single shot for the top spot on 39 points, third place going to Kasey Tuckey on 37.

The Sunday Stableford was a repeat of the day before for John Crosbie finishing in second place again in Division One this time with 38 points pipped to the post by Keith Wright carding 39. Barry Crook and Frank Ing were tied for third spot with 37 points with Barry coming out on top on count back. Martin Brett took the top spot in Division Two with 41 points a mere shot ahead of Barney Barnes on 40, Malc Williams finished in third place with 38 points.
