WHO NEEDS A PUTTER ANYWAY
Members of Freshwater Bay Golf Club blew away the festive cobwebs with a 10 hole three club competition on Boxing Day. The overall winner carding a very creditable 21 points without the use of putter, Steve Sargeant’s strategy of using his driving iron to putt with gave him that extra advantage from tee to green to keep Kev Garrett in second place. The Ladies prize was won by Elaine Hunter with 17 points beating Ann Smith on the back nine. Nearest the pin prize on the 14th went to up and coming junior Stephen Cooke.
The final round in the series of Whisky Trots was well supported with 38 entries on Sunday 23rd with the Stableford competition split into two divisions. Best score of the day was returned by John Meredith to take first place in Division 2 with 43 points, Pieter Sheldon took second place on 38 points beating John Wisker on the back nine, also scoring 38 points but not featuring in any of the prizes were Malc Williams and David Hartley.
