GREGORY TAKES LEAD IN OGLE TANKARDS

The Freshwater Bay Mid week Stableford, played on Wednesday 30^th January was comprehensively won by Colin Balfour (13) with 39 points followed by John Veal (14) in second place on 36 points, Graham Wells (10) and Dick Leppard (17) tied for third place on 34.

Friday 1^st February saw the monthly Veterans Stableford, first place went to Peter Scott (22) carding 38 points. Second place was taken by Frank Gregory (25) with his second 36 points of the season helping him to take the lead in the Ogle Tankard on 102 points, just five points ahead of John Mew in second place with 97 and last years winner Ray Cooke on 96. Ray (21) also took third spot on the day with 35 points beating Bob Godden (21) on the back nine.

Forty one players entered the Stableford on the Saturday with the field split into two divisions. John Burke (14) took first place in Division One scoring a best of the day 41 points, Keith Wright finished in second spot with a solid 40 points off his 8 handicap and Graham Wells (10) in third with 37.

Division Two went to Hugh Morrison (15) carding 40 points followed by Malc Williams (18) in second with 39. Third place went to Barney Barnes (17) on the back nine from Gordon Day (27) and Dave Morey (15) all three scoring 38 points
