SCORES RISE AS TEMPERATURE DROPS

The February Monthly Medal was played on Sunday following a delayed start due to heavy frost, although the course was playable the low temperatures meant that scores stayed high and the competition was classed as Reduction Only. First place went to Tony Keen off 10 handicap returning a nett 71 with Gary Cooke (16) taking second with a 72. Three players tied on 73 with Past Captain Gary Holmes (16) securing third spot beating 5 handicapper Simon Smith in to fourth on count back, Danny Holmes (3) was the last of the 73’s taking 5th place and the prize for the lowest gross.

Saturday saw a two ball scramble with fifteen pairs entered and first place won by Stuart Morris and Cliff Sanders on the back six holes from Richard Frost and Dave Morey both scoring nett 64.2. Third place went to Miles Oldershaw and Hugh Morison a mere shot behind on 65.2.

In the Mid Week Medal Miles Oldershaw (10) was again in the prize money four shots clear of his nearest opponent on 42 points winning Division One, second place went to Tony Keen (11) on 38 and third to Kev Garrett on 37 off of 5 handicap. The best of Division Two could only match the 37 points with Richard Couse (18) taking pole position on the back nine from Peter Scott (22) and Seniors Captain Ray Cooke (19) finishing in third on 36 points.
