The first priority of any club must be the safety and well being of its members. With that in mind, and with the Coronavirus pandemic becoming ever more serious, we have decided to take the following actions:
Firstly the Dinner and Dance at the Royal Solent Yacht Club on Saturday March 21st has been postponed until November 2020. As soon as a new date has been finalised it will be circulated to all members. The secretary will be contacting those members that have already paid and making sure their money is refunded. If you have paid by Cheque no action is required as no money will be taken.
Secondly the musical evening planned to coincide with the first Fristab of the year on Friday April 3rd has had to be cancelled. Future planned events for April and May are currently on hold and will be reviewed as soon as the government has clarified their advice.
Thirdly the Away Day on 22nd May at Hamptworth Golf Club has been cancelled and will be rearranged for September once a new date is finalised.
It is expected that the course will remain open for play whatever happens but there may come a time when there will be restrictions on using the clubhouse and locker rooms. However, at present all parts of the clubhouse remain open.
Going forward could all members please observe the government’s advice about the frequent washing of hands, using disposable tissues and maintaining a safe social distance of two metres.
Today the Chairman has also sent out an email detailing what to do if you suspect you may have the virus and requesting that all golfers refrain from shaking hands or kissing at the completion of their rounds. Details can be found on our website.
These measures may appear draconian to some but it is our duty to do all we can to protect the most vulnerable amongst us.
